While we acknowledge that money is a primary driver in our "civilized society", there is infinitely more to Life than being a Consumer. As we evolve, NOW! From Eco-Now! to Enviromeasures, we feel the most important thing we can do for future generations is to "become aware in this lifetime". This tour encompasses 10 homes in the Los Feliz, Franklin Hills, Silver Lake and Echo Park areas that have been tastefully, knowledgeably, inventively, and skillfully designed or redesigned to help us inhabit the earth in ways that will enable future generations also to inhabit a healthy, beautiful and bountiful planet. The owners, designers and some builders of these homes have graciously opened their doors to share their experience and knowldedge to smooth our way to "greening" our own homes, offices and lifestyles. Eco-Home™ is an on-going living research center that demonstrates ecological living in an urban environment. The Eco-Home™ is a restored and retrofitted California style bungalow, circa 1911 that shows us how simple but wise property improvements can make your home warm, friendly yet environmentally sound and healthy. This historic home incorporates solar hot water heating, photovoltaic panels, ultra low flow water systems and other energy and water conservation measures.
